There are several ways to register to vote – you may pre-register online or by mail (you’d be wise to pre-register several weeks prior to the election), or you may register in person on election day.

Pre-Register Online

You can register to vote online HERE.

Pre-Register By Mail

If you prefer, you may download this nifty PDF and mail it to:

Or e-mail the completed PDF to auditor@co.plymouth.ia.us

Absentee

To request an absentee ballot, please contact the Plymouth County Auditor at the address below, or download an Absentee Ballot Request Form and send the completed form to the Auditor:

Register in Person

You may register and vote on election day. At the polling place, you must now prove both who you are and where you live by bringing a current photo ID.

Proof of Identification

  • Iowa Driver’s License with current address
  • Iowa Non-Driver ID Card
  • Out-of-State Driver’s License or Non-Driver ID Card
  • US Passport
  • US Military ID
  • ID Card issued by your employer
  • Student ID Card

Proof of Residence

If your ID does not contain your current address, you must prove your residence. The following are acceptable:

  • Residential Lease
  • Utility Bill
  • Bank Statement
  • Paycheck
  • Government Check or other Government Document

Attester

If you cannot prove your identification and residence using the above documentation, a registered voter from your precinct may attest for you. Both you and the attester will be required to sign an oath swearing teh statements being made are true. Falsely attesting or being attested for is registration fraud, which is a Class D felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $7,500.

If you have any questions about registering, please contact the Plymouth County Auditor, or the Iowa Secretary of State. In a pinch we can certainly help you to the best of our ability as well – e-mail Mark Sturgeon.
